Day 7: FMUR 30 Day Challenge

Day 7: Favourite animal

Again, I'm not a big fan of animals. The only pets I have are the standard Asian gold fish. It's probably cos I'm generally such a lazy person.

I do like sea horses though, cos I think they look quite cute? Haha, erm and pandas? Because they're so asian, hahahaha. I do quite like horses though. They seem to emit this sense of freedom. I'd love to be able to just run that fast in the wind with the wind running through my hair, and somehow still look put together HAHA

But seriously, I don't have a favourite animal because I'm not a big fan of animals.

Day 6: FMUR 30 Day Challenge

Day 6: Anything Hello Kitty

This is probably a bit of a surprise, but as a Chinese girl.. I'm not actually that big of a fan of Hello Kitty. I don't really own anything related to Hello Kitty (not that I can think of at the moment anyway). SO, this blog entry is probably a bit pointless.

Day 5: FMUR 30 Day Challenge

Day 5: Favourite thing to do

I've actually really been slacking with these posts, and I'm starting to back date when I post. So today is actually 31st January 2011 but I'm posting it as if I wrote this on the 29th January instead. I've just had so much work lately. Sorry if you're actually following my blog properly and was waiting for an update! ><

For this blog update, I have to talk about my favourite thing to do. Only that's a bit difficult, because I'm not really sure what it is. I enjoy a lot of things:

-  shopping
- hanging out/ having fun with friends
- eating good food
- playing pool
- listening to music
- dressing up
- spending time with family
- watching dramas
- driving
- ice skating
- playing squash
- drawing
- sleeping
- thinking
- reading

But if you told me to pick one out of all of them - if I could only do one thing for the rest of my life - I would choose to spend time with my family.

Anyone who knows me in real life knows that I would do anything for my family. To some of my close friends, they actually find it annoying. They don't understand why I can treat my family so well compared to them, and why I can't show the same amount of love and patience with them.

Don't get me wrong, I care for my friends, but just on a different level to how I care for my family. (Perhaps they think I don't care. Each to their own.) I just place my family on a higher step. I don't think I treat my friends badly, or that I've ever not gone out of my way to care for my close friends, but it's true that there is a definitive difference between the way I treat my family, and the way I treat my friends.

I just believe that family will always be there no matter what happens in your life. Whatever you do, say, don't do, or cause, your family will always be there to back you up. My parents will always give me unconditional love, and in that same way, I give them mine. I respect them.

I've had a close friend ask me in the past why it is that I'm willing to do certain things for my sister(s) without asking them why they want me to do it. I think it annoyed -said friend-. Like I said, I will do anything for my family. It doesn't matter what they ask me to do. I will do it, as long as it makes them happy.

I guess that's the greatest difference between the way I treat my family and friends. I sometimes question why my friends want me to do certain things for them, but I will never question my family.

It's hard to know which one of your friends will always be there for you.
Which one will you still be friends with when you're 60 and wrinkly? Will you still be best friends when you have your own families and perhaps forget to make time for each other?

I've blogged about friendships in way too many posts on my other blogs so I will shut up now and stop boring you all. (Yes, I have 3 other blogs LOL)

So yeah, back to the actual topic.

My favourite thing to do is to spend time with my family.

Day 4: FMUR 30 Day Challenge

Day 4: Favourite foundation

I actually own way too many foundations - in the context that most of them sit there unused :/ I tend to only ever wear it when I go on a night out. Even when I go and meet up with guy mates I don't wear make up most of the time. I'm just so epicly lazy. I have so many products that I don't use, but I always have the urge to buy more.. There is most probably something wrong with me..

Anyways, when I do choose to wear some, I always use my Lioele Water Drop BB Cream. I only bought it this summer, but I've used it ever since. It's my first ever BB cream and I love it so much. I apply it with the E.L.F. powder brush that I mentioned, and it gives me a finish I really like :P It doesn't cover scars that well because it's more like a tinted moisturiser, but with some concealer, it doesn't feel like I'm wearing anything after I've applied, and it matches my skin tone quite well (~NC20). I have a lot of redness on my face, and I feel like this BB cream neutralises it, and it feels really cool and refreshing on my skin. Because I always get dry areas on my cheeks, I find that other foundations tend to cake or flake there, but this one doesn't for me! I love this and I hope they still sell it next time I go back to Hong Kong! (I got mine at ColourMix when they were promoting it, so it was HK$99.)

The only negative thing I would say about it is that because it moisturises and hydrates so well, I do get slightly shiny on the T-zone after a few hours (I have combo skin). I guess it could be solved by dusting powder over this area, but I prefer not to.. I prefer to look slightly shiny than cakey hahaha.

Again, photos will be updated soon. I'm too busy being lazy, haha.

Thank you for reading!

Day 3: FMUR 30 Day Challenge

Day 3: Favourite Brush

Being the idiot that I am, when I first saw 'favourite brush', the first thing I thought of was a hair brush... -_- don't judge me, haha.

Anyways, I only recently began getting into make up brushes, and I'm sure you've all heard this before from various other blogs, but I really love the E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush and the E.L.F. Eye Shadow Brush from their standard line. I'm a sucker for drug store brands cos I'm not really into spending tonnes of money on a few products that I hardly wear (I don't wear make up that often). I'm the type of person who'd rather use the money you'd spend on one product at a big brand, on several products at the drug store instead because I like experimenting and seeing what's out there :P

I actually hardly ever wear eye shadow because of my monolids, but whenever I feel like trying, or when I can be bothered (I think it's so much effort, haha) then I automatically reach for the E.L.F. Eye Shadow Brush. It's a really soft C-shaped brush, and packs on colour pretty well. Compared to the random brushes that I have from make up sets I got given from previous birthdays or Christmases, it is so much softer and denser.  Priced at £1.50 on the E.L.F. website (they're $1 in the US), I really think it's worth getting one! (or a few if you like to use loads of different shades in one go)

The E.L.F. Studio Powder Brush is also extremely soft and I really like the sleek black design of it. It feels like it's worth more than the £3.50 that I paid for it :P The bristles are pretty dense, so I find that when I use this to apply foundation or BB cream, coverage is quite full (which is good for me cos of all my scarring). I don't really like using it to apply powder though (even though it's a powder brush -_-) Because of how dense the brush is, I find it hard to get a light layer of powder, so I end up getting a chalky layer on my face. So yeah, personally, I only ever use it for foundation or BB cream.

It's getting late now and I can't be bothered to get up and go take photos and edit them, but I will make up for it soon!

Thanks for reading!

Day 2: FMUR 30 Day Challenge

Day 2: Favourite bag that I own

I have way too many bags but this is definitely my most loved:

I know it looks strange but I couldn't find a way to show the whole bag, so that's what I came up with, haha.

I'm really into bags with a slouchy style. I think they're known as hobo styled bags? I dunno, I just really like slouchy bags like this one. I own another one similar to this in dark blue but it's ancient and falling apart - I should really get rid of it but I always feel like I won't be able to find these styles for a good price in the UK!

This is one of my favourite bags both because of its slouchiness and its colour. I feel like I can just grab it and go out, no matter what I'm wearing? The colour scheme seems quite classy but it still works with a pair of Converse or something. I'm not into following fashion trends because I like to wear whatever I feel comfortable in, or whatever I think looks good. I feel like if this bag lives long enough, I will definitely carry on using it for years to come.

Just look how slouchy it is! <3

I really like this bag because you can wear it in two different ways - either across the shoulder with the longer strap, or on the shoulder with the shorter plaited strap. I love bags like these because they become so useful when you're out shopping or in a rush or something. I'm not a big fan of bags that you can only wear on the shoulder because I find it so difficult to carry under the arm (I carry tonnes of crap in my bag). Also because its so hard to run for the train/bus with, and I feel safer wearing side bags.. I feel like I can pull my bag closer to me.. and stop people from gaining access to its contents..? (Yes, I'm strange.)

I love wearing bags like these for when I go shopping, especially when I buy tonnes of stuff, cos it means I can wear it across the shoulder without worrying that it'll fall off (like it does usually when I wear it on the shoulder), meaning I kind of have more freedom to buy more things.

I didn't take a picture of the inside because I have so much crap in my bag, but I also love this bag for its crazy amount of compartments! I like to carry weird things out like alcohol wipes and torches (yeah, I know :/) so I like a bag with tonnes of compartments where I can safely store all my random things - this bag is perfect for that.

I've been told by my cousin that my bag looks quite 'Prada-esque', and my friend mentioned that it looks like a Miu Miu bag that she wanted? Which I guess is always nice :)

I bought my bag from a random shop in Mong Kok, Hong Kong so I'm not really sure where you could get them in the UK. If you're reading this and you're from the HK, I highly doubt you don't know of all the places to shop in MK!! Highly recommend going there to look for bags.. you can bargain like crazy too!!

Day 1: FMUR 30 Day Challenge

Day 1: Favourite Eye Liner

I have to point out that as an Asian girl with monolids, I find it really hard to find a good eye liner that stays and doesn't travel to my bottom lash line. So after tonnes of trial and error, I've found two that I can swear by.

(Click on pictures to enlarge them)

1) Rimmel Exaggerate Waterproof Eye Definer (Noir/Black)

Because the formula is waterproof, I find that once it dries, it sits quite well. The eye liner is double ended: one side contains the eye liner, which you twist up for application, whilst the other side is a smudger with a rubbery feel, or 'sharpener' as stated on the side of the eye liner.

This eye liner comes in 5 different colours: Pink Impact, Aqua Sparkle, Perfect Plum, Noir (Black) and Emerald Sparkle. I also own the Aqua Sparkle and think that the colour pay off is great. There isn't too much shimmer and is still subtle enough to be worn in the day time.

It is important to remember that with this eye liner, you have to make sure that the eye liner has dried/set properly before you do anything else to your eyes (such as apply mascara), because I find that it smudges extremely easily before it has dried (perfect for smokey eyes).

This can be found at Superdrug or Boots, and I think it retails for around 4/5 GBP (£).

2) E.L.F. Studio Cream Eye Liner (Black)

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am a really big fan of E.L.F. products. I seem to be forever ordering from them, and I guess it's starting to become quite a bad addiction for my bank balance. Some of the items at E.L.F. are amazing, and this is one of them.

What is says on the packet:
'Creates smooth lines that are defined and precise. Smudge-proof, budge-proof, water-resistant coverage. Achieve thin or bold lined eyes with ease.'

I totally agree with E.L.F's description of their cream eye liner. It is totally 'budge-proof' once set, and lasts all day. Once it has dried (it dries super quick), I never have to whip out a mirror to check if its travelled to my lower lash line, because it never does.

The brush that comes with the cream liner is small but handy. Most people prefer larger brushes because it makes it easier for them to see where they are applying, but I find the given brush fine to work with.

Sorry for the gross brush!

Apart from its great ability to stay put all day, I also love its sleek packaging and the way that it clicks into place when you close the lid. It's so reassuring haha. The E.L.F. Studio Cream Eye Liner retails for 3.50 GBP (£) and can be found at the E.L.F. website. The E.L.F UK website ships to both the UK and Europe (apart from Spain). For orders from the US, visit the American site.

Post Exam Haul

I haven’t been shopping for a while, so now that my exams have finally finished, I went into town today to make the most of all the student discounts they’re having at the moment.

I’ve never owned anything from MAC, but when I walked past the store, I thought it would be useful to find out what shade I am so that it’d be useful for further reviews and stuff. Like if I did a review on a foundation, it might be useful for you guys to know what shade I am for comparison – MAC seems to be a pretty universal colour match in the make up world for some reason.

Anyway, so I walked in just to get a colour match, and I ended up coming out with a purchase. I bought the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer (NC20) which I currently think has really good coverage, but I’ll do a review on that later. The kind lady at MAC also gave me a free sample of the Studio Fix Fluid Foundation in NC20, so I’ll be doing a review on that at some point too.

Also spent way too much in New Look on clothes and shoes.. but hey, I was taking advantage of their 20% off for students!! (expires 14th Feb 2011 so go quick if you’re a student in the UK!! I think they’re doing an offer online as well? Something about free delivery and student discount online?)

Anyway, it's late and I gotta wake early tomorrow but I will upload pictures and go through my post exam haul soon!

First Post.

Hey everyone!
This is my first blog where I plan to do reviews as well as recording events from my life (similar to a diary), so I hope you find the reviews useful and that you manage to find something helpful.

I don't know a lot about anything, but I do enjoy the process of buying and testing stuff out. I love my food and always love to try new things, and as I'm currently at university, I like to experiment with everything whilst I have the chance.

I've only recently realised how much I love the things that I do, and I figured that I should share that passion with people who have similar interests. I've read a lot of useful product reviews in the past and I hope that my blog will add to those and be just as helpful to others who are thinking about buying things that I've already tried out.

Of course, as a blog, I'll be recording stuff other than reviews too. It really is just a blog of anything and everything.

I hope my reviews will be useful to everyone who stumbles across them and I hope to write interesting and informative blogs for you all :)

Hopefully I don't bore you all too much with my life!
