Blog swap with Rinny

This post is seriously way overdue ><

WAY back in May, I contacted Rinny and asked if she would be interested in a blog swap - with the both of us living in two different countries, I figured it would be a good way of trying out new products that weren't readily available to us.

Rinny was so generous - she sent me so many things that I felt bad for having sent so little in comparison >< I know it's taken me a long time to post this, but thank you so much for everything Rinny! I was in Hong Kong when I read your blog post on our swap, and I'm so glad that you liked everything :) I hope some of them have become favourites!

(Please excuse the nasty background and lighting.. I now face a car park, making photographing more difficult)

I had heard so many things about NYX products that I was really curious and wanted to try their lippies and jumbo eye pencils. Rinny was so kind and got me about 5 NYX products! (I left one of the jumbo eye pencils at home - hence its absence in the picture above). I've tried out the round lipstick in Tea Rose and it's such a pretty colour! I seem to keep reaching for it whenever I want to feel more put together :P I haven't had the time to play around with the eye pencils yet but I'm looking forward to it! I've heard that they are extra creamy and make good eyeshadow bases - good for me and my monolids :P

The only thing that I had ever associated with Milani was the Liquif'eye. I had no idea that they even had blushes.. but boy, am I glad that Rinny sent me this! It is so silky and gorgeous; despite the fact that I don't wear make up that often, I have to say that I have used this quite frequently. I actually prefer this over my E.L.F. Studio Blush in Tickled Pink :P I love how it has little shimmers in it that aren't overwhelming, and the colour is a subtle, pretty peach-pink :P It comes with a little mirror and a flat brush under the powder.

Having never owned or heard much about Wet and Wild products, I was really excited when I saw that Rinny had sent me a palette with pretty browns, golds and neutral shades :P I actually still haven't opened it yet because I didn't want to ruin the clean packaging before I took photos for this post, but now that I have, I can't wait to open it and swatch it! The shimmery brown and gold shadows in the right-hand column are calling me ><

(Eurgh, my pictures really don't do it any justice - I assure you the shadows in the right-hand column are shimmery!)
EOS LIP BALM in Lemon Drop

I love how this lip balm is shaped like an egg :P And I love lemon flavoured things! I really don't think there was anything that Rinny got me, that I didn't like :P The lemon-y smell is addictive, and now that I've just opened the packaging (yes, literally just now), I am actually just sitting here sniffing it. I'm weird, I know.

Rinny also gave me a bag of samples, which included the Stila Illuminating Tinted Moisturiser and an Hourglass Illusion Tinted Moisturiser. I can't wait to try these out as well :P My favourite out of everything in this bag was the Cherry Culture Bubble Gum Lip Balm she gave me. Although I personally don't think it smells like bubble gum, it does remind me of something equally as yummy.. Haribo sweets!! haha, I really don't think I have any excuse to have dry lips any more..

I just want to say a huge 'Thank You!' to Rinny for agreeing to do this swap with me, and for sending me so many things, and so quickly! <3 I genuinely love everything that you got me :) Sorry for taking so long in getting this post up, but I hope you enjoyed reading it :)

Okay, I'm off to go and experiment with everything now!

Take care guys,

Valencia: Day 5

(Haven't read the rest of my Valencia series? TA-DAA: Days 1, 2, 3 and 4 :))

Day 5 was our final day in Valencia *cue sad face*. We woke around 10am, stuffed the rest of our things into our suitcases, and had Korean pot noodles for breakfast :P

I took some snaps in the lobby whilst Chu checked us out...

I forgot to mention this, but on one of the days (I think it was the first day), we hired out the hotel bikes and cycled around town trying to find the post office. It was pretty cool being able to just cycle everywhere, because I hardly get that opportunity to do so in London - I've been meaning to take part in the London Sky Ride.. except I always miss it every year. We also came across something called 'ValenciaBIKES'. I'm not sure which came first, but the concept is basically the same as the London Barclays bikes, where you pay at an hourly rate and can cycle to the numerous 'bike stops' around the city. The only difference is that you need to book the ValenciaBIKES 24 hours in advance online, but I think you can just pick up a Barclays bike and go. Has anyone actually been on a Barclays bike? I really want to try cycling around London!

Anyways, after we'd checked out and left our luggage behind the desk, we made our way to the post office (we had to ask the receptionist cos we still hadn't found it after 4 days ><)

Inside the post office

I came across these 'letter boxes' (I guess you'd call them), which I found pretty interesting. I gathered that you posted your letter according to which city you were mailing to.. which would make the lives of the post-people so much easier.. why do we not do this in the UK?!

I got the impression that these were post boxes too... How funky :P

After we'd sent our post cards, we explored as much as we could, discovering in the process that we could've easily walked to the next train station and saved some pennies (or Euros). Tourist fail.

We had a lunch of chocolate filled crossaints, Flora biscuits, and Chu's super sour orange from day 3, before heading back towards the hotel whilst exploring the rest of the local area along the way.

For some reason, this really reminded me of St Pancras International... I think it's the roof...

Pictures galore!

This was the Museum of Ceramics, which just happened to be right opposite our hotel. We wanted to go in, but our funds had diminished to the point that if we paid to go in, we wouldn't have been able to catch the Metro to the airport!

Randomly took a photo of this because it reminded me of the HK MTR and the London Overground... I bet you they're all owned by the same company or something!

Here are the different train tickets that we managed to collect during our time in Valencia. Obviously we had more, but these were the different designs that we'd managed to get :P I find the middle one so cute!

And finally...

On our flight back to London!

It was a super sunny, super short holiday, but it was exciting, relaxing, and just so much fun - yes, all at the same time. I'm really looking forward to going travelling again some time. I want to see as much of the world as possible!!

I think everyone should definitely check out Valencia! It's often overlooked for Barcelona and Majorca, but it's such a beautiful city filled with good food, friendly people, and plenty of sunshine :) The hotel we stayed in was really central, clean and quite worth the price! There was a laptop in our room which had internet, so we were able to watch movies and catch up on TVB dramas XD The hotel also had free wifi, which meant that I could update my Facebook and let people stalk me even though I was in another country. I think the only downside was that they had no English TV.. Anyways, if any of you are planning on visiting Valencia and want more information on the hotel I stayed at, just email me or something, and I will try to answer your questions :)

I hope you enjoyed reading about my time in Valencia as much as I did reminiscing about it!! :)

Too Tied Up for Time

Wow, I seriously only update about once a month.. :/ You guys have really heard it all before - I got caught up with life and neglected you all >< I'm surprised half of you haven't unfollowed me! I know I would.

Anyway, what do I say after being away for so long?

Since my last post, a lot has happened in my life.. I was job hunting and I was waitressing part time for a while, but the main thing is that I decided to apply for a MSc, and the last few weeks have possibly been the most hectic weeks of my life (apart from exam time :P). I applied for the course about a week after my last post, and it took another 2 weeks for references to be sent and a decision to be finalised. I went house hunting with a friend the week before I had to register at university in person, and failing that, I stayed at Christine's for a few days whilst I had my course introductory week. The land lady who owned the house we wanted was a pain in the butt - she refused to rent it out to us and tried to make us live in one of her other houses instead.. and when we refused, she said that there were already two people living in the house that we originally wanted. By that time, I was quite fed up with her, and decided to move into halls. I found out later that the house we wanted was in fact still up for rent as a 4 bed room property, meaning that she hadn't actually rented it out to anyone - she just didn't want to rent it out to us!

But hey, I'm getting over it.

Here's something that I see quite a lot when I come back to uni - I just thought I'd take this opportunity to share it:

I love this.

What else?

I started lectures last week, and I'm enjoying it so far - most of the lectures are interesting (there's always ones that make you fall asleep..). The people on my course are friendly.. and I feel really old, haha.

That's about it really in terms of updating you all with my life.

I'm truly sorry that I haven't been around to read and comment on everyone's posts, but I really have been quite short of time lately. Everything's happened so fast, and I guess it's only just started to sink in. I'm going to start getting back into the routine of things now that I'm beginning to settle in though! I hope you guys don't mind that I've been drifting in and out of blogging so much.

Take care, and I promise my next post will be up before the weekend!
