Asian Beauty Haul: The Face Shop, Skin79, Missha, Etude House

*WARNING: PICTURE HEAVY*

During the Summer just gone, both my sister and my best friend flew to Korea and Hong Kong respectively. I took up their kind offers for custom purchases, and asked for a few things :P Some of the items shown below were purchased on my trip to Hong Kong last year - I just never got round to posting about them or opening them.. ><

Please excuse the lighting in these photos.. I had trouble finding a place with enough natural light.

From Left to Right: Lioele Water Drop BB - Lioele Aqua Make Up, Skin79 BB Triple Functions (Hot Pink), The Face Shop Hydro Splash BB Cream, Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream in No. 21

The main product type that makes up my Asian beauty haul are the BB creams shown above.

The Lioele Water Drop BB Cream was actually a repurchase that I made in HK last year. I already own a bottle of this goodness, but I thought I'd get a back up just in case I run out. I mentioned it with a short review here in my April favourites last year. I've never actually bought a back up or a repeat of any of the make up that I own.. so you could say that this just shows how much I adore the stuff!

I also bought the Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream during my trip to HK, but it remains unopened in its box.. I had a small panic attack earlier when I was read a blog post on fake Skin79 BB creams.. but confirmed that mine is genuine. Phew :)

The Face Shop's Hydro Splash BB Cream was one that I'd been eyeing up in HK but never got round to actually purchasing. Due to it's hydrating properties, I saw it as a product similar to the Lioele Water Drop BB Cream and my interests in it grew despite a lack of online reviews. I then asked my best friend to help me purchase both this and the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream (another product that I had been coveting for quite some time).

I've heard such good things about the Skin79 Hot Pink BB Cream and the Missha Perfect Cover BB Cream, so these are the two that I'm most excited to try out.

The other half of my haul is made up of 2 lipsticks, a blusher compact, a concealer and a face powder..

Clockwise from Top Left to Bottom Left: The Face Shop FACE it All About Lipstick in Moisture PK103,  Etude House Dear My Blooming Lips-talk in OR204, The Face Shop Lovely ME:EX Angel Skin Loose Powder, The Face Shop FACE it Baked Shimmer Blush in 01 Pink Aura

The Face Shop's Lovely ME:EX Angel Skin Loose Powder was a recommendation by a Colormix sales assistant in HK. I was looking for a pressed powder and had decided to purchase the Maybelline Clear Smooth Shine Free Face Powder, but there were none left on the shelves. When I asked the sales assistant if they had any in stock, she recommended the Angel Skin Loose Powder as a better alternative - this was at a time when The Face Shop stores began to pop up all over HK and in drug stores so I wasn't sure if she was trying to make a sale or giving a genuine recommendation.. but hey. I bought this product instead, but have still to use it..

The powder comes with a soft powder puff, and there is a plastic partition with evenly spaced holes for the product to be dispensed. Brand new, there is a plastic sticker on top of the dispensing holes in order to keep the project hygienic and untampered with.

The next product is The Face Shop's FACE it Baked Shimmer Blush in 01 Pink Aura.

Admittedly, I saw this in a YouTuber's monthly favourites, and it's apparent pigmentation and similarity to the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks led me to lust after this product.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take photos of the swatches that I made, but the colour, shimmer and pigmentation of this product are wonderful - there's not too much shimmer and I can see how different sections of this baked blusher could even double up as a highlighter or eyeshadow.

I was most attracted to the packaging for the Etude House Blooming Lip-stalk when I took out of its box...

The pearly pink and the metallic pink bow are such a cute combination! So princessy!

The Etude House lipstick is in OR204 - a slightly pink coral colour with a gorgeous imprint of the Etude House logo on the bullet (as pictured below), whilst The Face Shop's FACE it All About Lipstick lipstick is in Moisture PK103 - a medium pink lipstick with slight shimmers that is stated to 'keep lips moisturised for the whole day' with a 'cream gel type of formula which softly melts on the lips'.

I really do hope that these lipsticks do not disappoint - they have already got me eager to try them out with their appearance in both packaging and bullet colour..

The last product is Skin Food's Salmon Dark Circle Concealer. I am constantly on the hunt for a good under eye concealer, and although I have yet to try this, I have heard about the moisturising properties of the oil contained in this little tub, along with the effectiveness of salmon coloured concealers in neutralising the shadows under the eyes..

I'm a little apprehensive of its oil properties as I'm not sure whether it will be beneficial in keeping this concealer from creasing and settling, or if it will be a nightmare and cause me to develop spots, milia, and all sorts of lumps and bumps under the eyes..

Overall, I can't wait to try out each of these products and see if they provide what they promise to deliver!

Have you tried out any of these products? What are your thoughts?

Decisions: Under Eye Concealer

(Psst: Boots currently have 3 for 2 on all skin care, cosmetics and health care products - perfect for the new season and the change in weather that it brings!)

I've been looking for a good under eye concealer for quite a while now. I need something that's non-drying, doesn't settle into fine lines, and has good enough coverage for my serious panda eyes. Yes - a lot of qualities to look for in a single product. My brief research on Makeupalley, YouTube, and through fellow bloggers has led me to put the following on my list:

1. Bobbi Brown Concealer and Corrector - apparently the corrector is better for brightening and cancelling out those panda eyes.. so am considering this over the concealer

2. Maybelline Dream Lumi in Radiant

3. Laura Mercier Secret Concealer - found this to be recommended as much as the BB corrector

I've tried the raved about Collection 2000 concealer but it is seriously awful for me - it cakes, settles in lines, is thick, and just makes it ten times worse - I always end up going without than with when I experiment with it. I'm currently trying to make do with the E.L.F. under eye concealer and brightener from their Studio line, but despite not caking, it's too sheer for me and I feel it doesn't last long - even if I set it with powder.

If you've tried out any of these products, what do you think?

Do you have any recommendations for eye creams or under eye concealers?

Sharing is caring :)

So, I have been MIA as usual, and now that I have finished uni and have yet to graduate or change my status to 'employed', my time has been split between sleeping, watching dramas, housework, looking for work, planning graduation, and meeting up with friends.

If any of you have been in this position, you will know that there comes a time when you realise you cannot go on like this for much longer. For a start, you start to resent doing the same things every day. Secondly, you discover that although you would quite like to get out of the house and do other things, these activities all tend to require money (plus travel expenses) and that you actually have no ability to fund these activities whatsoever.

So then. What have I decided to do?

I've decided to come back to blogging. To blog regularly. To bring some form of structure back into my life!

I hope that you will welcome me back into your lives :)

Sneak peak of future post!
I cannot wait to carry on sharing with you all :)

Daily Life: End of exams and a super long birthday weekend

It's been over a month, but welcome back to meeeee.

My last exam was on the 24th of May (how has it been a week already?!), and with my birthday landing on the Sunday, I had a super long weekend to finally relax before the craziness begins for me again on the 11th of June. (I'll be starting placement then, but I aim to keep posting every week. At least to keep me sane.)

The weather was gorgeous over the weekend and I was so glad to finally be able to go out and enjoy the sunshine.

Last Friday (25th), my sister came up to stay for the weekend - I was meant to collect her from the station, but the bus was super late so she collected me from the bus stop instead :P We did a bit of shopping in Loughborough (which has hardly any shops..), before we headed off to The Basin for lunch :P

She has the photos, so I'll post them up when I manage to get them off her!

We went back to my halls after, and met my friend and his cousin, and her boyfriend (complicated?) not long after we'd arrived. We all piled into the kitchen and did a bit of speed baking, as time was limited and we had to grab dinner before we went to see Derren Brown's Svengali at the Theatre Royal in Nottingham. We were in such a hurry that we left the cakes in the oven (and my sister alone in my flat), and ended up grabbing a quick Subway for dinner.

The show was... so good. Hard to describe. It wasn't all intense throughout - there were parts where I laughed so hard my stomach hurt - but the parts that were dark.. it was as if the whole theatre was holding its breath, tense and intrigued as to what would happen next.

Photo on the balcony!
I was meant to sit separately from the others, but luckily, no one came along to make me move, and we enjoyed the show sitting together :)

The next day, we went to Alton Towers (the UK's largest theme park) with my course mates. We had quite a busy morning - as the car could only fit 5 people, we had to take 2 people to Nottingham to catch the bus. This involved waking up super early.. and we all know I'm rubbish at waking early..! We made it with 2 minutes to spare, hopped out the car and legged it to the bus station just in time.

On the way to the park, a few of us realised that we had forgotten all sorts of things - travel sickness tablets, hair bands, sun screen... - but as we had to stop by a town on the way so my course mate could pay her rent, we managed to grab these things from Boots. As I went to the bank with Candy, I didn't manage to get hold of the sunscreen... which is why I now have very unattractive 'tan' marks. To be honest, I actually look like my shoulders, back and neck have been oven cooked. Strangely, my legs are still pasty. Woo-hoo. Two-toned freak!

We dinnered in Nottingham that night, before heading back to campus.

At May Sum Chinese buffet :)
That night, we iced the cakes we made on Friday night :P

So much icing :D
The next day was my birthday :P My sister met up with her friend, and my friend and I went for lunch and a bit of shopping in town. I was looking for a pair of sunglasses, so I dragged him through a few shops and made him give me opinions :P

We had lunch at White Rabbit Teahouse, a tea house that I'd only just recently discovered and really wanted to try :P

My scone with clotted cream and jam - was yummy!
I don't remember what was in his panini.. I think there was pesto..?
Action shot! Last blog action shot shown here :P
Because the one of me was too horrible to share XD
:)
Thank you for such an unforgettable birthday.

We had a barbecue that night on campus and spent most of the night packing up my things for the move the next day. I think I stressed everyone out on Monday with how much stuff I had and with how much I dawdled and did next to nothing in terms of helping pack the car. Well. I found myself annoying anyway.

I got home on Monday night and had dinner with the parents :)

I met with my best friend on Tuesday for sushiiiiii! We always seem to have sushi XD

Now that I've had such a great long weekend, hunting for housing and unpacking are so... not fun D: But I do realise that life isn't always about the ups. Not that looking for a place to live and unpacking possessions are a 'down'. Some people don't even have a place/possessions >< Gah, need to be more grateful.

I've missed blogging... It feels good to be back.

What have you all been up to? If you're in the UK, how have you been enjoying the sunny weather? :)

Daily Life: Updates

I have been drowning in work and illness, but I just wanted to let you guys know that I am still alive!! What can I update you on?

1) I chopped off about 20cm of my hair.

2) I finally had the presentation for our coffee gel product and have decided that I don't really want to work in new product development.

3) I came home for Easter last week after spending the weekend in Nottingham.

4) I went for dim sum, go karting, and dinner the other day but I didn't take any photos =_= clearly losing my blogging abilities of snapping photos at practically every opportunity.

5) I saw 'This Means War' and 'The Hunger Games'.

6) I had/have tonsillitus - I can't wait till I get better so I can eat all the things that I've been banned from eating. Being able to eat anything you want really is a blessing.

7) I finally got my laptop back after sending it for repairs about 4 times..!

8) I'm really rubbish at keeping up to date and reading everyone's blogs... but you all knew that already ><

9) I was going to add a recent photo to this blog post so it would look less boring... but then I realised I haven't taken any proper photos in a whole month because I've been a hermit T_T

Anyways, just wanted to let you know that I will probably not be back until the end of May. My exams are on the 21st and 24th May but I still have 4 pieces of coursework to do, and some placement applications to complete before then, so I feel like I am drowning. I was ill for about a week before I decided I should really visit the doctor's.. turns out I had tonsillitus.. and now I am waiting to hear if I have glandular fever..! Nothing seemed to be going right for me at that point >< I had a viva despite the tonsillitus and had to miss a factory visit because I constantly felt like throwing up. *rantrantrant*

Aside from my ranting/complaining/usual-rubbish-chit-chat, I hope everyone is doing well, whether at work, school, uni, anything really. It's kind of only just hit me properly, but health is really important, so make sure you all drink loads of water, sleep early, exercise, and wrap up warm if it's cold where you are! It's meant to be Spring here but it currently sounds like it's raining elephants outside.

Take care everyone. Speak to you all soon!

Daily Life: Good food, good friends, and good fun

Continuing on from my last post..

By the time I got back to London on Friday night, it was about 8pm. We went for dinner at Dongsan on Poland Street, just outside of China town. I forgot to take photos until we'd almost finished, so I only have one dish to show you >< Rice cakes with seafood! :) We also had beef bibimbap (stone bowl), seafood pancake and beef with glass noodles. Yummy :)

I had to take a picture of the receipt.. purely for the total sum.. what a perfect end to my horrible week, eh?

ANYWAYS. I had a good dinner on Friday night and saw my family once I got home :P

Saturday morning, I spent some time backing up my files onto my hard drive before restoring my computer to factory settings because it'd been blue screening on me for a while - I only got my laptop in January, so I don't know what's up with that..

By Saturday afternoon, I was munching lunch in Byron with two of my favourite people before spending the rest of the day shopping around and grabbing a quick Snog in between.

Natural yoghurt with oreo cookies, granola and mochi

Blueberry yoghurt with strawberries, blueberries and banana

Natural yoghurt with strawberries

YUMMEHHH <3

We chilled for a while in the seating area outside H&M for a while, playing Solitaire and Fruit Ninja until it hit around 7pm. Then we left for London - free parking!

We played a game of pool before queuing for a table at Satsuma on Wardour Street. I don't actually remember how long we waited for, but the food was definitely worth the wait. I really wanted to sit in one of the booths they had, and luckily, we got to!

Look how pretty and cosy it looks! :)
We didn't take long in deciding what we wanted.. we ordered so much food that the waitress had to ask us if we were sure about it XD

I thought this was cute :P
Scallop katsu
Salmon sashimiiiiiii
Clockwise from top left to right: ebi prawn tempura rolls, california rolls, soft shell crab tempura rollssalmon and avocado rolls
Soft shell crab tempura rolls
Beef yaki soba
Chicken katsu curry
We wanted to grab some Scoop crepe afterwards but because I couldn't get home too late, we're saving that for next time. Definite pictures when I go!

On Sunday night, Dad brought home some lobster and prawns, which led to us mucking around with them ^^"

*mwah* *mwah* :P
We had them for dinner the following night :D

It was a good night of chilling with the family :)

I almost missed my train on Tuesday because the tube didn't go all the way to Aldgate and I had to wait, but luckily I managed to make it on the train with 10 minutes to spare.

So yeah, that was my super long weekend break in one post :P

I had a really good long weekend - it definitely made up for the stressful week that I had. It feels a bit weird to be back at SB now, especially because I've had such a long break from doing some proper work. I'm slowly getting back into the routine of having group meetings and meeting lecturers though.

I can't wait for Easter to come so that I can spend some quality time at home with my family and friends. It already feels like I've been away from home for ages, but I only got back the day before yesterday >< There are loads of deadlines lined up and waiting for completion before and after the Easter holidays, but I'm looking forward to just being in London, away from this place they call Sutton Bonington.

Hope you're all good!

Xx
