Daily Life: Guess it's time for an update

As I'm sitting here planning ahead for the year, I decided that now would be a good time to update you briefly on my life over the past 2-3 months.

In November, I began a three month internship - a nine to five desk job at a company an hour away from home by one train and two buses. The work itself is okay, but stress levels are high when it gets busy - although that's the norm with everything. In my second month, they offered to extend my contract, so now I'll be there for a while longer. I see it as my first job and a learning opportunity. I still have a lot more to learn, a lot more to give, and I'm sort of looking forward to it.

I also graduated this month - there was ice and frost, and I was so so so cold in my dress! Guess that's what the Chinese saying 'want beauty, don't want life' was meant for. It was fun to see all my coursemates one last time before everyone left for their jobs or to go back to their own countries, as the majority of them were international students.

I received my first bunch of graduation flowers, which were also my first bouquet of flowers given to me for a special occasion :)

December was obviously all about Christmas. I left the majority of my present shopping until the three days leading up to Christmas due to having little time outside of work to do some in depth shop browsing. I managed to get most of what I wanted, although I admit that I may have spent too much for a commercialised celebration that has little to do with me in terms of religious beliefs.

I also went to Winter Wonderland - a German market that comes to London every year during the Christmas season. I ate so much food and spent too much money - but it was a good day out despite the freezing temperature and constant rain!

Towards the end of the month, I went to watch Matilda: The Musical! I bought tickets as a present for someone special, and I ended up trying to make it a surprise.. a bit difficult when they have to drive you there and find parking.. with you trying to hide where you'll end up :/

The set design was amazing, with really beautiful lighting and contraptions that I couldn't tell were there until they appeared. It reminded me of a GCSE Graphics project we did on theatre design.
The cast were very enthusiastic and the majority of songs were upbeat. The only thing I didn't like was that the music was louder than the singing at certain parts of the show, which made it difficult to hear what was being sung. I'm not sure if that was due to where we were sitting though, although I had chosen seats after researching the best upper circle seats online (as I couldn't really stretch for seats on the lower tiers).

January has been good to me so far. New Year's Eve was spent at home with my loved ones, bringing in 2013 by watching the fireworks on TV. Is it bad that I don't remember what I did on New Year's Day?

Right now, I'm just keeping my options open in terms of jobs - I hope I find something that I want to do soon.. I like the job that I'm doing now in terms of location, hours, people and the work itself. Sometimes, it gets too much, but I don't suppose that would be any different any where else. I just hope at some point I will find something that I want to actively involve myself in. They say that a job isn't a job if you love what you do, and I want to be able to have that for myself.

I guess there's still a long way to go.

Hope everyone is well, and that you've all had a great January.

Priscilla,
Xx
