Asia 2014: Taiwan - Day 4 [Last Day]

You can view our previous days here: 1, 2, 3.

Our final day in Taiwan involved some local eating and browsing after our hotel breakfast. As our flight was later on in the evening, we made sure to leave our luggage with the hotel.

We also took the opportunity to chill in the hotel lounge and explore the rest of the hotel.

To make sure we knew how to get home once we had landed in Hong Kong, we logged on to the hotel's Apple Macs and navigated our way through Google Maps and airport bus timetables.

Eventually we headed out to explore.

Kin's colleague recommended the above store; famous for its seasoned meats.

We had a look at their pineapple cakes before continuing on our way, where we spotted a shaved ice restaurant!

I'm not sure if this is a chain restaurant or a one-off, but you could tell its popularity from the framed celebrity photos, and the signed baseballs on display!

We ordered the Mango Snow Ice with Mango, and the Green Tea and Red Bean Snow Ice before grabbing a seat by the shop window. As we waited, we noticed a family of five sharing a single bowl of shaved ice... it wasn't long before we realised why...

The serving size was huge!!!

Green Tea and Red Bean Snow Ice - NT$180

Mango Snow Ice with Mango - NT$200
We headed back to the hotel after this, and set off on our long journey to the hotel. We had a few issues lugging our suitcases through the stations, as well as trying to get our Taiwan Easy Cards refunded and the remaining balance reimbursed.

Eventually we arrived at the airport in Taiwan and boarded our flight back to Hong Kong. By the time we arrived, it was 11pm so we grabbed a quick McDonald's before heading home!

Thanks for following the Taiwan leg of our journey. I plan to do single posts for Hong Kong, specific to the places we went to, rather than as a backdated diary entry. I look forward to sharing more about the food and places we visited!
